Where is my order?
According to Dr. Stephen Porges, the left vagus nerve branch induces the freeze response. However, the right branch can still be stimulated for additional relaxation. To do this, simply attach another pair of electrodes (just like on the left) to your right ear.
ATTENTION: The image shows our old electrode; the new VNS 3.0 now features a more stable and comfortable single-double electrode.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Application & Getting Started
How do I attach the electrodes correctly?
Position on the ventral vagus branch in the ear (Cymba Conchae), not on the earlobe. Lightly moisten skin for better contact. Select mode 16.
Which side - left or right?
Start unilaterally (left often activating, right calming). Switch sides once an effect is stable. Bilateral use is only recommended for advanced users.
How long and how often should I use it?
Start: 2–5 minutes. Gradually increase to 15–20 minutes. 1–2 applications per day are sufficient. Always listen to your body.
Should you use the device before bed or during the day?
Best used before bedtime. Once you have become accustomed to the device, it can also be used during the day for support.
Can the device run in the background, or do you have to concentrate on it?
It is better to use it consciously and to feel into your body. The effect usually sets in faster this way.
Do I need ultrasound gel for the contacts?
No, a damp cloth (water) is usually sufficient. Only use ultrasound gel if contact is very difficult to establish.
Two people – one device?
Yes, possible. For hygienic reasons and wear and tear, we recommend your own electrodes/devices in the long term. No "competition" for levels/duration.
2. Effect, Health & Safety
Contraindications & Gentle Start (CFS, Long-COVID)
Start in a supine position, well supported. Level 1–2 for only 2–5 minutes. Discontinue if you feel unwell. Gradually increase.
Some users speak of "improvements for the worse." Why?
A frozen nervous system may initially interpret relaxation as a danger (cortisol release). Be patient, proceed slowly.
How do I know the device is working?
The display flashes during stimulation. A gentle impulse is palpable. A strong tingling sensation is not absolutely necessary.
Safety case: sparks / pain at the electrode – what to do?
Change page. If things get restless: take a break and restart shorter/gentler later.
May I use the device if I have metal implants (e.g., stainless steel)?
Stainless steel is a poor metallic conductor, so there are usually no complications.
Use in shift work and sleep disorders.
Device helps regulate rhythm. Also, refer to the tips in the e-book (posture, relieving pressure on joints).
3. Product & Technology (Hardware)
What is the difference between VNS and TENS mode?
VNS (Mode 16) is specifically for the vagus nerve. TENS is for muscle relaxation.
What is VitalWave™ Technology?
A stochastic (varying) stimulus. Prevents the nervous system from getting used to the impulse (habituation effect).
What frequencies does the VitalnervStimulator® use?
Mode 16 operates at 15 Hz, pulse width 200 µs, 20 Volts (studio standard for vagus stimulation).
How long does the battery last and how many charging cycles are possible?
The battery lasts approximately one month per charge (charging time 5 min). Lifespan of several years with normal use.
What's included in the set? Do I need a second electrode?
A bipolar ear electrode is included. A second one is not necessary for startup.
Help, the spring has popped out of the CES ear clips.
This should not happen. Please contact Support for repair or replacement instructions.
